Baba Kofi my Palm wine tapper makes more than N10000 profit on market days(every 5days). He makes about N3k daily. His electricity bill is N500. His shop costs N1000 a month. He grows his own food. He doubles as farmhand while his wife sells the Palm wine. By 2pm he has none left. His expenses are very low. He is from Ghana and making good here in Nigeria.

Here, the Togolese are doing neater and better jobs in masonry. They don't abscond with your money. They have their children in the trade already. Who wouldn't need a plumber with the way we clog sinks and lavatories? First it was the Ivoriennes, then Ghanaians, then Togolese and now the Chinese! The Chinese are damn good! Their work is perfect with artisanal joy! They speak passable English and they grasp Yoruba quite fast. They love it here for the money. Our own artisans are sloppy and without any regard for quality and finishing. They tell you they'll come on Monday only to show up 3weeks later with tales and bad attitude.

Elsewhere, they are only interested in riding Okada. No apprenticeship is required. It is a life of sharp-shap, now-now. Late in the evening after work, they sit with matured women with big ikebe who can turn their innards out with mind blowing sex. The money for the day gets blown that way. They do osusu and the "sexual collector" collects. 4 years into the daily N1,500-2000 per day, they start coughing. Before lung cancer can be diagnosed, they die! When you have no appetite for delayed gratification, you face whatever comes. Fear is catching me. I see it everyday, I prowl the Southwest hinterlands. I see a lot of stuff. In the blink of an eye, the City of Light turned dark on Kim Kardashian.

The 35-year-old star of Keeping Up With the Kardashians "was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening, by two armed masked men dressed as police officers," her rep told E! NewsSunday. Kardashian was "badly shaken but physically unharmed," her rep added.

Kardashian was in the city for Paris Fashion Week.

New details surrounding the incident emerged overnight.

The French Interior Ministry said five men threatened a concierge with a weapon, handcuffed him and forced him to open Kardashian's private apartment. Per Today, the Paris Prosecutor's office confirmed two of the men gained entry to her room. One of Kardashian's rings, worth an estimated $4.49 million, as well as a jewelry box, worth an estimated $5.6 million, were stolen.

A source tells E! News Kardashian was "really shaken up" by the incident. Her children, North West and Saint West, were not in the room.

According to NBC News New York, the five men escaped on bikes. They are still at large.

Kardashian has not spoken publicly about what transpired.

A source reveals to E! News Kardashian was gagged and bound at her hands and feet, then handcuffed and held at gunpoint. "She begged for them to let her live and [said] she has babies at home. Then they wrapped her mouth in tape and put her in the bathtub." Scared and alone, Kardashian feared the worst. "She thought they were for sure going to kill her," the source says.

After the men left with "all her jewelry," Kardashian "broke out of her bindings and got out," the source tells E! News. Later, after speaking with Parisian police, the reality star boarded a plane. Kardashian's sister, supermodel Kendall Jenner, left Paris separately Monday.

Before news of the robbery became public, Kardashian's husband,Kanye West cut his set short during the Meadows Festival in Queens, New York. West said he had a "family emergency."

Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo condemned the attack on Kardashian viaTwitter Monday, saying she's always welcome in Paris. "This very rare act occurred in a private space and does not in any way call into question the work of the police and the security of the public space," she said.

On Sunday, E! News reached out to Kardashian's mom, Kris Jenner, who said she "will be OK."

While overseas for Paris Fashion Week, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star was held at gunpoint inside her hotel room, E! News can confirm.

"Kim Kardashian West was held up at gunpoint inside her Paris hotel room this evening, by two armed masked men dressed as police officers," her rep shared with CNN. "She is badly shaken but physically unharmed."

The news comes shortly after Kanye West suddenly ended his concert at the Meadows Music & Arts Festival in Queens.

A concertgoer tells E! News that in the middle of performing "Heartless," the rapper learned of a "family emergency" and left the stage. The venue later posted on social media with the message, "Due to an emergency, Kanye West had to end his performance early. Please get home safely."

I know many of you might be wondering why I'm making this decision so early into the competition. Some are also wondering why I'm only giving 3 reasons.

I do not want to bore you with a long article so I'd rather state the most important reasons.

1. HE IS YOUNG, SMART AND EXTRA TALENTED
 
    At just 18 years old, this University of Lagos Systems Engineering Undergraduate has performed on many 'smaller' stages.  His participation in Project Fame West Africa S9 makes him one of the youngest to EVER make it to the academy. It is really difficult to balance studying to become an engineer and doing music in a society where opportunities are minimal but he has be able to balance and excel at both.


2. HE POSSESSES A CELEBRITY STATUS 

   Everyone who has ever met Dapo AKA Jimmy all have the a similar review about him, HE IS A STAR. He possesses this aura that makes him stand out in any gathering. Though a bit reserved where need be, he has the comportment to be a future music star which would be good business for the MTN Project Fame Brand and the Nigerian music industry as a whole.

3. EVEN STARS AGREE THAT HE IS VERY GOOD

   Long before Project Fame Season 9 auditions began, starts have been 'cosigning' Dapo on social media. 'Eleko' crooner MAYORKUN, who is a friend of his is one of them. Even current MTV Africa Music Award Best Male Artist and Superstar DAVIDO is one who concurs that Dapo is a musical rebel. You this I'm lying, this is proof

UNILAG STUDENTS HAVE TO ENSURE ULSU IS NOT DISSOLVED

Today, I decided to check the University of Lagos website and for updates about resumption. It is no longer news that full academic activities are to be resumed on May 2 and exams commence May 9 which happens to be exactly one week after resumption.

 Lo and behold, I come across an acrimonious statement released by the school regarding the role of the University of Lagos Student Union (ULSU) in the infamous protest that led to the temporal closure of the school.

In the statement, the school authority claim to have dissolved ULSU. “The University of Lagos Student Union (ULSU) Constitution should be suspended until further notice. The ULSU Executive and the Student Legislative Council should be dissolved forthwith,” the statement released on Saturday stated. 

“Faculty and Departmental Associations should work with the University Management through the Students’ Affairs Division in the interim.

“ULSU Constitution should be reviewed to include conflict resolution mechanisms such as establishment of Judicial Arm and Financial Guidelines, which shall be the prelude to subsequent elections into ULSU offices.” the statement released on Saturday stated.

After reading the despotic statement, I finally realized why University of Lagos didn't have a Student's Union for about 10 years. I deduced that the management of the school do not want anyone disputing their decisions which makes them impose some uncomfortable ideas on students. I haven't stopped wondering why the Vice-Chancellor, Rahmon Ade Bello, who completed his first degree at the great Obafemi Awolowo University which is one of the school's in Nigeria with the most powerful Students' union, chose to be a party to such a tyrannical decision. 

The circular also states that “The University will endeavour to provide electricity in the various halls of residence between the hours of 7.00 pm and 7.00 am daily. The boreholes in the hostels will continue to provide water supply to the hostels until normal supply from the Lagos State Water Corporation resumes.” 

12 hrs of electricity supply is never enough for a student especially during examinations period, but at this desperate time, the last thing we want to do is complain.

The school decided to include in the statement an Indemnity form which is to be filled by  every Parents/guardians as well as the students before the student would be allowed entry into any hall of residence.
That is what got on my nerves. How could they despotically ask us to sign the form. For Christ's sake we are not High School students or Covenant students (no disrespect to Covenant University Students), we are Akokites who had to study extremely hard just to pass Post-UTME and are studying even harder to to maintain such status. We know our rights and won't be blustered about by anyone not even the school management.
We must stand by ULSU and fight(not physically) that the Union is not dissolved so students could keep having a voice.

I HAVE FINALLY DECIDED TO BREAK MY SILENCE ON THE CURRENT STATE OF UNILAG

Over the past couple of weeks, I have received phone calls and e-mails from readers urging me to comment on the current happenings at the University of Lagos. I had earlier promised myself not to make any comment but these persistent messages have compelled me to speak out.

As a proud Akokite, i had promised myself not to make public the shortcomings of the University of first choice, It is quite unfortunate that we have decided to wash our dirty linen in public. Many of us have been sharing the story all over the place. Some gullible student have even spread pictures of our wonderful ladies, climbing the gates and walking through the shallow canal just to get out of school.

Not forgetting the main issue at hand, I strongly stand by the University of Lagos students Union (ULSU), even though I do not support all their actions. For a long time, the school management have been treating students unfairly and someone had to stand up and speak, which ULSU, the rightful body did.

Accommodation has always been a major problem in Unilag especially for the males. As at last session, Unilag had 6 male hostels and & female hostels functioning. This session, the male hostels available are only 4. The legendary Shodeinde Hall is under renovation and El-Kanemi is under re-construction These hostels officially accommodate just about 25% of students which is a very low number, but with the addition of squatters, it rises to about 60%. The hostels are usually over congested. This congestion leads to in-conducive environments for students. Most of the rooms accommodate students that drastically outnumber the bed spaces. For example, King Jaja hall has a room fondly called "Maracana" which is supposed to accommodate 8 students, but this room accommodates over 30 students. Hostels with 8-man rooms eg El-Kanemi, Biobaku have it the worst. This over-congestion was the reason for the massive spread of bed bugs last session. Imagine a room of 20 students , and one student gets infected with measles, there is a high chance that at least 50% of his/her roommates would have contact it. Please do not misinterpret me, I'm am definitely not against squatting. I just want the management to provide more conducive halls of residence for students.

Another serious issue is power supply. Power supply this session has deteriorated drastically. I understand that its the same way around the country, but the school should have enough generators to ensure constant power for students because power is highly essential, after all the school generates billions yearly. The power distribution is very poor on campus. For example sometimes during the day, Jaja hall would be without light but Red Bricks would be with light! Make me wonder whose priorities the management put first, Students or traders

To cut long story short, I stand by ULSU and urge them to sit with the management and make proper dialogue, give realistic ultimatums and not hope on empty promises

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Lagos has always been known to possess a plethora of fun good looking young men and this year is no exception. I have actually met a lot of really COOL ones. So I have decided to make a list, in no particular order, of the COOLEST final year engineering boys you need to know. Some of you might know them already, and those who don't, thank me later.

1. Babasola Sosanya AKA KING BABZ (MECHANICAL)

    

First and foremost, this guy is one of the realest guys I've ever met (believe me, I've met a handful).
dark skinned, handsome, almost 6 feet tall and never afraid to speak his mind, All hail King Babz.he is definitely someone you have to meet before he graduates

2. Henry Ojei  aka OJAY (Mechanical)

    Just so you know, this guy probably has the coolest Nigerian surname you'd come across (fondly pronounced "OJAY"). Some of you might know him by his legendary afro,  Henry, doesn't really like to talk in public, but when he does, you do not want to 'not hear' him. The most sarcastic Unilag boy I've met (ties with Victor), Henry is definitely a guy to lookout for. Last time i checked. he was single.

3. Victor Uwaoma (Pet & Gas)

    Standing at 6 feet tall, this Chrisland high school graduate ties with Henry Ojei as the most sarcastic Unilag boy I've ever met. He's one of the wittiest people you could come across  Funny, witty and smart. Victor is someone to lookout for.

   4. Joe and Jerry Ovbiebo (Mechanical & Chemical)

        Many wouldn't like the fact that two guys take one spot, and I'm sure they might not either but these guys are two peas in a pod. literally. They are twins. I could beat my chest any day and say these guys are the most handsome twins in UNILAG. They are the most good looking male twins you could ever come across.

     

 5. Bolaji Oni AKA Uzobaby1(not 2 not 3), King of the baby boys (Pet & Gas)

      You might actually know this guy already. With his crazy aliases, He is probably one of the most popular people on this       list. Oni is a guy ladies love to be around and there's never a dull moment with him.

6. Chukwuebuke Azike (Pet & Gas)

     You might know this guy too. He is usually one of the brains behind most of the dopest parties and shows in school. Handsome, cool and social, the ladies love him.

     

7.  Kingsley Temuru (Pet & Gas)

      This picture says it all, This guy is probably the calmest person you'd ever meet. Cool, calm and  collected, "Tems" like we like to call him is definitely someone you have to know

8.   Kingsley Okey-Azunnah (Elect-Elect)

       Speaking of class, this guy is class. He is a very friendly guy who everyone loves. Rumour has it that his bank account is as good looking as he is. With his charming looks and easy going nature, ladies really need to meet this guy.

9. Lotanna Udoji (Elect-Elect)

Just like the other electrical guy on this list, Lotanna possesses charming good looks and that could melt the heart of any female(even Jezebel). Between his great sense of humour and his handsome bank account, it's hard to figure which we love more

10.   Jide Fajuke AKA Papi Jay Systems Engineering

    If there's ever a Mr Systems engineering, this guy might probably win. With his boyish good looks and out-spoken nature, Jide is Mr nice guy.

   

11. Jeff Duru AKA Badboywatchs (Chemical)

This guy is one of the most confident people you could ever meet, Sometimes people mistake his confidence for cockiness, but they are wrong. Jeff is never afraid to speak his mind at all times. Confident, brash and good looking, Jeff is a 'G'

12. Ebuka Obiakor aka EAZIEE (Computer)

Everyone in computer knows this guy and if you don't you are dulling. Ebuka is computer's baddest guy. Outspoken, confident and very fun to be around, Ebuka is definitely THAT GUY!

UNILAG STUDENT GRADUATES WITH PERFECT SCORE!!!

Mr Ayodele Daniel  Dada, from the Department of Psychology, University of Lagos has emerged the best graduating student in the 2014/2015 sessions with a cumulative GPA of 5.00. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rahamon  Bello who disclosed this  on Wednesday during ‎a pre-convocation press conference held at the institution’s Senate Chamber, described the 5.00 CGPA as a perfect score.  He said that this means  Ayodele scored As in all courses he took in the programme. According to him, a total of 10,907 students will graduate with  degrees and diplomas ‎during the convocation slated for 1st to 3rd of March, 2016.  In the breakdown, he noted that 5472 students will be awarded with first degree certificates, while 5435 will receive postgraduate degrees. He said: “Out of the first degree graduating students, a total of 178 passed in the first class division, while 1,617 passed in the second class upper division. “Also, 2,496 are in second class lower degree, 884 in third class, 274 in unclassified degrees in Medical Sciences and Pharmacy, just as 50 students had pass degree. Besides , the University will graduate a total of 71 students with the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees in various disciplines.” According to the Vice Chancellor, Faculty of Engineering tops with the highest number of first class degrees, having 41 first class graduating students.

Linda allegedly accused Wizkid of getting paid 8.9 million Naira to perform at American University of Nigeria, AUN and he refused to show up.

KIM AND KANYE WELCOME NEW CHILD 'SAINT' AND HE'S ADORABLE

Celebrity power couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West welcome second child and first son on 22nd Febuary 2016, same day Kim's late father, Robert Kardashian was born. The boy is called Saint, we were all aware of the name before the arrival of the child as Kanye named North West and Saint West as Creative Consultants on his latest album, The Life Of Pablo.

Kim posted this adorable picture of Saint on her IG with the caption "Today is my dad's birthday. I know there's nothing more in the world he would have wanted than to meet his grandchildren. So I wanted to share this pic of Saint with you all."

TATTOO COVERED DANISH HEALTH WORKER RESCUES 2 YR OLD BOY ACCUSED OF WITCHCRAFT

I hate to share stories like this on my blog because it is so pathetic. When I first heard this story, I sincerely shed tears.

This two year old boy had been abandoned by his family on the streets of Uyo in Akwa Ibom for 8 months. This was because his parents had been told that he possessed witchcraft. Yes, seriously, that was the reason. He was feeding of scraps which passers-by threw at him. People walked past him daily but no one did anything to help. Until the faithful day when a tattoo-covered Danish aid worker, Anja Ringgren Loven found him and took him off the streets.When she found him, she says, he was riddled with worms and had to have daily blood transfusions to revive him. "Thousands of children are accused of being witches" she wrote in Danish on Facebook, as she appealed for funds to pay for food, medical bills and schooling. She has named the boy Hope.

Loven is the founder of African Children's Aid Education and Development foundation.

About a week ago, I wouldn't have believed that an act as barbaric as this still exists in 21st century Nigeria. But now I know and it's sickening. How could we humans be so blinded by religion that we throw away or even sometimes kill our own children just because some savage religious "god of man" says the child possesses some sort of witchcraft. How can we justify such Idiocy. Even lower animals would never kill their own children over someone else's claims, talk-less we higher animals.

Upon hearing this story, I began to ask myself questions. Questions like, why people walked past this child daily and no one decided to do anything about it? Is the government aware of cases like this? If they are, what measures are they taking to curb it?

Acts like this make me question the purpose of humanity.

15 YR OLD CROWNED KING IN DELTA STATE

The 15 year old son of Obi Akaeze Edward Ofulue III, the king of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State who was kidnapped and subsequently murdered last month by unknown gun­men, has been installed as king. Obi (King), Chukwuka Noah Akaeze I, was  Installed as king this week and presented to members of the Royal family before he was presented to the coun­cil of elders at the palace.
The deceased king was abducted on Obior/ Igbodo Road, Delta State, on the 5th of January along with his driver. He was later found dead at Ekon in Edo state. He was 52 years old.

Cat-mad Barbarella has always been an animal lover. "As a child I was surrounded by cats," she says. "Our family regularly owned at least one or two. They were my favourite animal.

At 34, Barbarella finally got the chance to adopt her own cats, and she took the opportunity very seriously.

"For me, it was like when you know you’re having a baby," she says. "Before you have a baby or adopt a child, you look on the internet to learn as much as possible and read lots of books. That’s what I did before I got my cats."

In March 2000, Barbarella adopted two eight-month-old tabby cats from the same litter at an East London animal shelter.

"It was love at first sight when I laid eyes on my boys, Lugosi and Spider," she recalls. "I’ll never forget that day. They were rubbing against the cage and purring.

"I knew I wanted those cats… I could tell the feeling of love was mutual judging by their purrs and the way they were brushing their little faces against the bars. That was it; they were coming home with me!"

Barbarella – who now lives in Lanzarote – has had a few long-term relationships with men, but never wanted to marry.

She explains, "I didn’t know if I had it in me to be a wife. Some women are built to clean up after their men, and I’m not like that. But I never minded being my cats’ servants. I’m not a submissive person but I’ll do anything for Lugosi and Spider."

Barbarella says the cats were a comfort to her after her most serious relationship with her boyfriend of seven years broke down.

THE REAL TRUTH BEHIND THE AGANYIN PALACE STORY

Everyone in the University of Lagos knows Aganyin Palace. When I say everyone, I mean students, academic,  staff, non-academic staff etc. If you are an Akokite and you do not know Aganyin Palace  then we need to really look into your admission. JK. For those dear readers who aren't Akokites, Aganyin Palace is a restaurant/canteen, located inside Jaja shopping complex, where the best by far Aganyin beans in Unilag is sold. Just like the name implies, it is truly the home of ROYAL BEANS. Students flock from all parts of school, just to have a taste of it. Working class men in suits would drive cars to the place and join the queue. Over there, there was no segregation.  As a matter of fact, I do have a friend who last session, used to take cab from school gate to main campus, just to enjoy this delicacy. But for a large part of this semester, the place has been locked and no one knew why.

Just a couple of days ago, rumours began to fly around school about the reason why the place had not functioned for a while. This rumours were extremely disgusting. The most disgusting and also most common was one which claimed that the woman who owned the place was allegedly caught washing her privates into the water which she used to cook the 'amazing' beans. Irritating right? ya I know. I threw-up into my own mouth upon hearing this. I was so grossed-out.

I was a loyal customer of Aganyin Palace. It was directly opposite my hall of residence for last session, so it was just a stone-throw from me. Every Jaja boy knows how difficult it is to get food on Sundays due to the fact that almost all the shops at Red-Bricks are closed on Sundays but Aganyin palace was always there for us.

This prompted me into digging deep into the truthiness of the story. After contacting some of the people I know in high places, running around school to find answers. Was the story true? Finally I got what I was looking for. The story was 100% FALSE !!! *sigh*
It was just a lie framed  by an attention seeking student, who my sources told me is a girl called Oyindamola.


So why has the place been shut all this while?
The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria actually own the place, And due to the Director for Students' Affairs (DSA) intervention in some matters of the MSSN Unilag, some activities were halted in the bid to calm situations that have arisen. The outlet was also affected and was shut indefinitely.

This rumour has caused damage to the reputation of the place and the management are skeptical about reopening.

Please ignore the distasteful rumour and and put the initiator to shame.
